My husband HO TIM died eight years ago. He owned

the above boat. I have been mistress since he died. I am

assisted by my two sons HO FO 22 years and HO WING 20 years, both reside on board. I have another son HO CHI Yau 16 years

who is at school.

My boat has been chartered by the HANG FAT

Transportation Company for about one month. I am engaged

to carry mixed cargo

groceries etc. to NAM TAU. I have

made five trips to NAM Tau during the time I have been engaged by this company.

My boat is towed to NAM TAU either by the Steam

Launch KWAI HING or Steam Launch KUNG HING. The two Agents of the HANG FAT Company have accompanied me to NAM TAU on

four occasions. On arrival at NAM TAU, boats are waiting to receive our cargo, it is then transferred to the waiting

boats. This done other boats come along with cargo which is then brought down to Hong Kong.

I am paid $10.00 per day for the use of my boat.

On the 22nd January, 1940, about 07.30 hours we

were off CHEK AN temple on our way to Hong Kong when I saw a Japanese motor boat (Number and name unknown) anchored, on approaching it, the Japanese hailed us and our launch which was towing my junk and one other (No.2233) stopped, the two junks were then brought alongside the motor boat. The

Japanese on board the motor boat called on my fokis to take

some cargo and put it on board my boat. First of all the
